Explore INGO Insurance Trends in 2024

Much has changed since the last time we published our International NGO Benefits Trend Report. That is the way of the world, and no one knows that better than the INGOs we work with daily. Whatever their mission, INGOs are at the forefront of the changing global landscape — working on the frontlines to solve complex global problems and deeply personal issues for the people they serve.

It is the folks at these INGOs that we had in mind as we compiled thousands of data points from our client base for our International NGO Trend Report, 2024 Edition. Many years ago, we imagined the Trend Report would allow the diverse and disparate INGO sector to benchmark their coverage against industry norms. Our data gives individual organizations context around their health and welfare practices, as well as transparency into industry norms. Now, with the launch of our second edition, we are able to show how trends are shifting — or not.

INGOs are focused on benefit equity in 2024

Of particular note in this edition is a trend that we have monitored collectively for years: benefit equity. We have seen a dramatic increase in the benefits provided to Local National (LN) employees. This is excellent news as we are also seeing more organizations hire LNs as a success strategy, and providing those staff with equitable benefits is becoming increasingly mission-critical.

The cost of comprehensive benefits offerings for Local Nationals is significantly lower than the investment made in all other staff populations.

As you can see in the above chart when you compare the investment organizations make for all other staff populations, the cost of a comprehensive benefits offering for LNs is significantly lower. This fact makes it easy to build the business case for benefit equity, as well as continuing to hire locals to help advance an organization’s larger mission.

Our data may tell us that benefit equity is on the rise, but that’s just the beginning! The spread of our portfolio companies has also shifted. It represents an even broader cross-section of global NGOs than in 2022, giving us deeper insight into best practices and norms worldwide.

From the increasing focus on mental healthcare to the average cost increase across the industry, Allegiant Global Partners has the data-driven insights INGOs need to make informed decisions that protect their employees, budgets, and missions.

We are excited to be able to share a treasure trove of information on plan designs, pricing, and best practices as INGOs move toward achieving global benefits equity
